Morris Mini 1000

Year: 1972 / Mileage: 26200 / Price: SOLD

Here we have a simply gorgeous Mini 1000 in harvest gold, first registered in May 1972. With only 2 registered owners and a substantiated low mileage of just over 26000 miles coming with a wonderful history.

Subject to a full restoration in March 2001 at a cost of £5000 this Mini is in super condition with very few blemishes. The car has been SORN for the majority of the past ten years and has only covered a few hundred miles since the restoration.

Coming with a full photographic record of the restoration and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate in a beautifully presented folder which gives an extensive insight into the life of this wonderful little car.

The 998cc engine starts first time and though not powerful has enough poke to have fun with. The gearbox is precise enough and whilst the brakes can only be described as adequate they pull the car up straight.

This car has had a lot of money spent on her recently after a long period in hibernation and will be serviced and MOTd prior to sale. She will be available from the end of May onwards.

Older MK11 And MK111 Minis in this condition are rare now and offers an investment opportunity as prices for these British icons are rising rapidly.

The period vinyl seating is in excellent condition and the tan colour complements the harvest gold paintwork beautifully. The interior is as she left the factory apart from a period radio under the front parcel shelf and a mountney leather sports steering wheel which adds to the sense of adventure when driving this lovely little car. The original steering wheel is still with the car should you want to swap it back.

The door cards, instruments are all in good condition and the roof lining was replaced when the car was restored in 2001.

Service History

This Mini has spent her entire motoring life around Market Harborough. Originally supplied by Leyland dealer Mann Egerton of Leicester and sold to her first owner, a Mrs Gibbs In May 1972.

The car was used as a “run about”. When Mrs Gibbs stopped driving, the car was purchased by her next door neighbour a Mr Rippin for his wife in April 1982 for £600. Because of the cars low mileage and known history, Mr Rippin arranged for a complete “nut and bolt restoration” by Classique near to Melton Mowbray.

The car has been hardly used since then and Mr Rippin claims the Mini probably never travelled more than 30 miles from Market Harborough in its life.

The Mini comes with 13 MOTs and numerous invoices covering services and the restoration. She was recommissioned in 2015 with nearly £1000 lavished on her.

In the folder provided by the cars previous owner there are 5 pages of typed history giving a time line for this Mini. Please contact me for further details.

The car will come with 12 months MOT and be serviced.
