1967 MGB GT

5 owners / 1895cc / New Heritage shell
Price: £SOLD

I have owned this MG for nearly 6 years and sadly its time to move her on.

This 1967 MGB GT was subject to a £17k restoration in 2003 after having been laid up for a number of years after a minor accident in 1997. Because of the condition and low value of the car before the accident the Insurance company classed the MG as a category c write off. In the extensive history folder all Insurance correspondence are available to view and the claim form states the car hit a lamp post at low speed with light damage to the front wing, bonnet and radiator.

The owner kept the MG and after a few years decided it should be given some love and embarked on an extensive and costly restoration that included: new Heritage body shell and all panels along with many new suspension components. The invoices for this are all available and cover many pages from the MG Owners Club. Interestingly in 1988 the previous owner fitted a Ron Hopkinson fast road engine conversion with the engine bored out to 1895cc with a stage 3 cylinder head and twin choke webber carbs along with uprated brakes and a Ron Hopkinson handling kit.  All invoices are in the folder to view.

The MG is an early series 1 version and is fitted with a period Britax folding sunroof and Minilite style alloy wheels fitted with brand new tyres. It was given a full service in February 2022 and drives very well. Overdrive is fitted and works on 3rd and 4th gear and works a treat.

Although this MG was restored 20 years ago it is still in lovely condition with no corrosion on the body or sills. The British racing green paintwork suits the car very well and has very few marks or swirls and is in very good condition.

The chrome bumpers are in very good condition with only some pitting on the chrome window surround. The interior is a very simple place to be with very few luxuries. The rear is fully carpeted and although the photographs show no rear seats  fitted they are available and in good condition. One of the stereo speaker covers is missing and there is some light staining/aging on the passenger visor and sun roof lining, but nothing too major.

Please contact me (Peter) if you would like any further information.
