Presenting a rare and genuine Motorsport Edition BMW 325i Convertible with automatic transmission. This car is absolutely beautiful with an impeccable service history.
Coming from the factory with the option code 122 this was the Motorsport pack comprising of M Technic body kit, Motorsport leather seats and door cards with the M sport flash, 15” BBS alloy wheels, limited slip differential, M Technic suspension, M Technic steering wheel, Hard top preparation and special body colours.
This particular car is one of only 40 produced in Macau Blue and built in July 1988 and delivered to Jacksons BMW dealership on the island of Jersey. Only 590 of these special cars were produced between 1988 and 1991.
The car spent its first 14 years on Jersey explaining its low mileage. The car has been exceptionally well looked after having had 5 cambelt changes and comes with 19 service stamps and a huge history file with invoices, MOTs and old tax discs. Latterly the car has been looked after by renowned BMW specialists Classic Heroes based in Buxted.

Option code 122 refers to the BMW internal code for “Motorsport Edition”. This comprises of 15” BBS alloy wheels, M Technic body kit comprising of front and rear spoiler and lower side mouldings, limited slip differential, M Technic sports suspension, M Technic leather steering wheel, M Technic sports leather interior comprising sports seats, leather door cards and centre console, 4 speed sports auto gear box, power steering, electric windows front and rear, Blaupunkt Montreal stereo system, electric door mirrors, front and rear head rests, first aid kit, systems check computer.
The straight six 2494 cc engine produces 168 BHP and is the famed M20 design that served BMW so well in so many of its models. Fuelled by Bosch Motronic injection the engine is very smooth and in a relatively light car produces strong performance with a top speed of 130 MPH and a 0-60 MPH 9.8 secs. The 4 speed auto gearbox has sport and economy settings and I can confirm having driven this car extensively the shifts are smooth, and the brakes and steering perform just as the maker intended.
The Macau Blue Metallic paint is in beautiful condition having just undergone a £5000 respray. As you would expect there is no corrosion or bubbling of the paint to be seen. There wasn’t any before the respray either as this car had stood the test of time remarkably well.
The chrome work and glass are in excellent shape and the BBS wheels were reconditioned by Classic Heroes at a cost of £610 in 2016. The car is fitted with matching Pirelli P6000 tyres.
The blue folding roof is manual in operation and retracts as the maker intended and is in very good condition.
The grey full leather Motorsport interior feels as if it belongs to a car just a handful of years old. With no tears or major scuffs and I am sure you will see in the photographs just what a lovely place to be this is.
The sports seats have minimal wear on the bolsters and the door cards have very few marks. The carpets again have minimal wear.
All electrics work as they should.
